Music Nation, the artist development company, has announced plans for the second season of its hugely successful online music video competition. After awarding the three winners of the first contest recording contracts with Epic Records last month, the company has signed on with a new panel of judges to find the net’s next hip-hop and rock stars. The contest kicks off June 18th and will run for 12 weeks.
Rock judges for this season’s contest include Dave Allen, bassist for Gang of Four, Andy Gershon, Executive Vice President, Epic Records, and Carrie Schupper, music program manager for Gen Art. Hip-hop judges include DJ/Producer Green Lantern, DJ/Producer 9th Wonder, and rapper Saigon.
The winners, which will be chosen by the judges above and by votes from the public, will both be signed to recording contracts with Original Signal Recordings, Music Nation’s label through Epic. While the rock winner will also score the opportunity to perform on FUEL TV’s “The Daily Habit,” the hip-hop winner will have the opportunity usually reserved only for some of hip-hop’s biggest names, a chance to have their music mixed by hip-hop judge DJ Green Lantern as well having their own exclusive custom-produced Green Lantern track.
